Pantone Colour of the Year: Radiant Orchid
When I heard that Radiant Orchid was Pantone’s colour of the
year, I was unsure as to how I would like it. This pale lilac colour seems to
be the kind of thing that bad 80s bridesmaid dresses are made out of, not the
kind of thing that you want to wear. I think it might have been because they
announce the colour in the winter, and orchid is a really spring colour. What
with the snow that is hammering the east coast, I was in the need of a little
spring, so I re-examined my feelings about this shade.
I think the trick with Orchid, much like many trends is to
use it to add pops of colour to your wardrobe, as opposed to going all out. It also seems to be polarising into two shades, the more warm-toned 'true' orchid, and a cooler tone lilac-ish colour. I think either will work, and I picked products in both shade groups. Here are a few products that I think will do the trick.
