Year of the Horse

Last Friday signalled the Chinese New Year and entry into the Year of the Horse. Horses aren’t really my thing (we all have that friend) but I did ride when I was younger, and have always found a certain grace to horses. You can channel some of that into your fashion this year with a few equestrian-inspired pieces. Whether you’re a horse person or not, it’s a classic style that can work for almost anyone. Here are some of my favourites that I think will really make a statement this spring.

This is the Tory Burch Jess Riding Boot in Brown (also available in Black). I think that a tall leather boot is a must in anyone's closet, even if it can take a bit of hunting to find the right pair for you. They're always in style, and with a little maintenance the right pair can last for years, so they are worth investing in. Available here.

This Fossil watch is one of my favourites. I have it in a different colour with a metal strap, but the leather really makes it a little more rustic. The D-link that attaches the watch face to the strap is stirrup shaped, so it's perfect for that little touch of everyday equestrian. Available here.

These gold plated studs from Gorjana Griffin are dainty enough to wear any time without looking imposing. Available here.

This horse bit bracelet would be great to add to your 'arm party' when you're stacking it with other bangles. Available here.

Everybody raves about the J Crew pixie pants. I really want to pick up a pair, but I'd like to see them in person first. They make a riding pant style pixie pant that comes in navy or black that has a jodhpur style with leather panels. Available here.

Do you plan on incorporating the year of the horse into your wardrobe?
