Skoshbox September 2014
I
walked in the door from vacation and dove straight into my newest
Skoshbox (after a nap and a shower). Skoshbox is a subscription
service of Japanese treats for you to try. If you want to see what I
said last time, you can check out the other posts here.
This
month there were eight exciting Japanese snacks to taste!
Pizza
Umaibo (Pizza flavoured puffed corn stick)
Again
with the umaibo, Skoshbox! I’ve gotten an umaibo (puffed corn
stick) every single month and they are all just icky. I have yet to
find any flavour that I enjoy. Please Skoshbox, stop sending me
these. This one does indeed have that generic pizza-flavour taste
Dragon
Ball Classic Fruity Bubble Gum
I
always find the cartoon branded items more gimmicky than delicious.
This is gum, so it's pretty hard to mess up. It holds its flavor for
a long time compared to a lot of other chewing gum and is pretty tasty.
Mint
Pocky
I
love Pocky. The chocolate covered cookie sticks are addictive and
delicious. They're even better when they're mint falvored. It's like
biting into one of those Girl Scout Thin Mints cookies. Definitely
the best item in the box.
Macademia
Oreo Bar
This
was odd. It tastes like a ground up chunky oreo that has been formed
into a log. It's not bad, but it is strange.
Mario
Chocolate Crisps
These
are gross. Think soggy rice krispies coated in artifical chocolate.
Do not want. They also look like rabbit poops.
Matcha
Look Chocolate
Again
with the matcha. This tasted remarkably similar to every other matcha
chocolate square I've recieved so far.
Haihan
Veggie Senbei
This
wasn't as crunchy as the other senbeis. This kind of disintegreated
in my mouth and didn't taste like anything at all. It seems like the
kind of thing you give to an infant to gum on.
Whistling
Ramune Candy
This
was another item that didn't taste like anything. The consistency was
weird though. It fell apart like loose chalk. Do Japanese children
actually enjoy this?
So
that's this month's Skoshbox. This month was...not great. The pocky
was good though, and it was a full-sze package. It's still something
fun to do over a couple of nights. It's also something out of the
ordinary.
Do
you get a food subscription box?
