Cold Weather Changes

I feel like I'm in this blogging rut that I need to get out of, hence my many absences, among other things. I've also been working on some more opinion-y editorial posts, so that might be a thing that happens now.

Anyway, now that it's suddenly freezing in Montana, I thought we could talk about how my routine has changed for winter.

I know it's not quite winter, but it has felt like it the past couple of days with the frost on my windshield every morning. As well, I can feel the difference in my skin and that's what we're going to talk about today.

For all over skin, not just on my face, I've been using the Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair non-greasy lotion (too many words). I received this in my most recent Influenster Voxbox. And I've been really impressed. It makes my skin feel awesome and moisturised, and the great folks over at Influenster included skin test strips that tell you how dry your skin is before and after. It was really cool to see the difference it made after a couple of days of use. It really is non-greasy and absorbs quickly, so it's perfect for smearing on right before you step out into the cold.

A few months ago when I got this Egyptian Magic salve in a subscription box, I had no idea what to do with it. The solution has come, although many weeks later. It's perfect for smearing over the dry patches on my cheeks and forehead before I go to bed so I wake up with great skin and am ready to head to work.

For the days when moisturising just isn't enough, I've been using an at-home glycolic peel from Exuviance to get rid of any and all traces of dead skin. It works like a dream and doesn't burn at all. I did a video where I try it out that's not my best work, but definitely shows you how easy it is.

I haven't forgotten about those lips either. My favorite is the Kiehl's #1 Lip Balm. It's thick and goopy so it really is not suitable for a full year of use, but around the winter, I can't get enough of it. I use some before bed and wake up ready for whatever lipstick I want.

Finally, it's also time to trade out the powder products for creams. Powders just do not stay on my face in the winter. I have been loving cream blush sticks, like this one from Tarte. It stays on much better and still gives you that great flush.

What are your favorite products for the colder months?

I received the vaseline mentioned, as noted, from influenster. Opinions are still my own.
