Overnight Makeup Bag Must-Haves
Sometimes I spend the night in a bed that is not mine. Late
nights that turn into mornings, weekends away, whatever it is, sometimes you
know that you’ll be spending this night away from the comfort of your own home.
But just because you’re out for the night doesn’t mean that
you can’t look nice the next day. Here’s what I bring when I’m packing an
overnight bag.
Skincare Stuff
Makeup wipes
I get a lot of these as freebies or gifts with purchase, and
it’s easier than hauling around a whole pack of these. If I know that I’m only
gone for one night, the single use ones are just smarter.
Acure Day Cream
This is my favorite moisturizer right now. It makes my skin
look extra perky, and is a thick, luxurious cream. I won’t leave without it.
Harvey Prince Liquid Loofa
This is actually a body wash, but from experience I've learned that it's a great face wash. It takes off every bit of makeup and is exfoliating while still gentle.
Makeup Stuff
It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye
Mine’s a travel-size, so it’s itty bitty tiny. Even though
this says it’s for undereyes, it works as an all-around great concealer, so I
feel confident only taking it whenever I’m heading out. I also find that this concealer
works best when you blend with your fingers, so it’s even better for on the go.
Maybelline Dream Fresh BB
This is another great all-around product. It’s got SPF,
makes your skin look great, and is available at a drugstore near you. It does
smell a little strange, but it works. It is sheer, so it’s best for a light
makeup or no-makeup-makeup kind of day. I love it, but my skin has been great
recently, so I can use something a little lighter. Regardless, I recommend
finding something that you can stick in your bag that applies easily.
Sephora Face Brush
This is the only brush I bring, and it’s been my favorite
for forever and then some. I only bring two powder products, and this works for
both.
ModelCo Blush
This one makes another appearance. This one does apply
really heavily, so you need to use a light hand, but it really wakes me up no
matter what.
Tarte Park Avenue Princess Bronzer
This is bigger than most of my other super-travel-sized
products, but this has a good-sized mirror, so I toss it in because it’s my
favorite bronzer and it’s great for
getting ready when you don’t have a giant mirror in front of you.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Black Velvet
This is my Holy Grail pencil liner. It stays on and stays on
and stays on for forever. I may have left in on overnight and it still looked
good, she says guiltily. It’s also way quicker than a liquid liner, so I like
it for my away nights.
Cailyn Just Mineral Eye Polish in Orchid
I like that this has an applicator so that I don’t need to
pack any other brushes. It’s also a your-lids-but-better shade, so that you
look a little more polished. I also find that even though this is a mineral eye
shadow, it stays really well without primer.
Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara
I’m really fickle about my mascaras, so this one is in here
because it is my current travel-size. I usually have one travel size and one
full size mascara open, and this is what I’m working with now. It’s a great
formula though, so I highly recommend trying it out. It gives me fantastic
lashes with zero effort. No falsies needed!
Philosophy Hope in a Stick
You must bring
your favorite lip balm and this one is great. Whether you prefer a Chap Stick
or something high end, be sure to pack one. This is the one I’m using now, and
if you’re a fan of philosophy, I would recommend it.
Revlon Kissable Balm Stain in Honey
I can’t get through a makeup bag tour without mentioning
this. I’ve gone through two of these.
It goes with any outfit and any occasion, so look for a lip color that works for
you for any kind of occasion and you’ll never have to worry about what to pack.
