March Favorites
Some months I have a really hard time finding things to talk
about for my monthly favorites. This month was not one of those times. In
March, I tried a lot of new things and I’m excited to report that I found some
real winners.
This month:
Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Nail Enamel in Checkmate
I had talked about this before in the color Wild Card, which
is a bright blue, but I’ve been loving this nce nude beige that is just off my
skintone. It makes me nails look nice and done and polished without being a
color. It’s very appropriate for the office and goes with everything. It’s just
a nice polish to have around for when you want your nails to be painted, but
not to be a bright color.
Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in Barcelona Nights
I had my eye on these for a while but just never gave in and
bought one. I finally picked up this one in Barcelona Nights and I was not
disappointed. I had heard mixed things, and after wearing it for a while, I can
see where they are coming from. It has a strange gel texture, so you really
need to work it into the lips. It seems like it’s gloopy until you start to
work with it and play with it. But then it stays on all day, without feeling
dry or uncomfortable. It’s really worth the hype, if you’re willing to play
around and figure out how to get it to work for you.
ModelCo Blush in Peach Bellini
This came in an ipsy bag and it’s quickly become a staple in
my makeup bag. It’s quite shimmery, so it’s great for those days when I feel
like I need a little bit of perking up. The peach color is also really natural
looking, so you get this wonderful glow that makes you look refreshed and
awake.
Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara
I’ve been bouncing back and forth between this and Benefit’s
Roller Lash Mascara (comparison coming later this month). This is really great
when I’m not so worried about curl and just want giant bold volume. This is
just a little tester, but I will probably be getting the full size when this is
emptied out.
Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Precision Longwear Eyeliner
Also from Tarte, I have been using a new liner pen. My beloved
Kat Von D pen had it’s last moments, and was sold out when I tried to buy a
replacement. This happened to be around when I was desperately searching for an
eyeliner, and I haven’t been disappointed. I like the applicator less than the
Kat Von D one, but the formula is really great and goes on smoothly. If you
maybe didn’t like the Kat Von D liner, I would try this one out, because it’s
similar, but different, if that makes sense.
Colgate Optic White Toothpaste
I debated putting this in my favorites for a while. It makes
my teeth so white. People are starting to notice and give me compliments on my
teeth and how nice they look. But this tastes bad. Really bad. I hate the taste. I have to rinse my mouth out for
several minutes after I use it. But my teeth look so good! So I’m loving using
this, but it does take some icky.
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Conditioning Treatment
I hadn’t been using a deep conditioner religiously for the
last month or so. I’m between hair cuts right now and noticed a few more split
ends and flyaways than I was comfortable with. I picked this up because it’s a
bargain at only $3 and is one of the most raved-about hair products. I’ve been
using it every few days for the past couple weeks, and it’s made a huge
difference in my hair. It looks healthier and shinier. This is also the easiest
deep treatment I’ve ever used with the squeeze bottle format. I think this
might achieve HG status.
Estee Lauder Modern Muse Eau de Parfum
I’ve been loving a little bit more of a mature fragrance
lately. I have a few of these samples that I’ve been running through. When I
first got it, I wasn’t too impressed, but it’s grown on me to where I’ve been
wearing it daily. It’s subtle and pleasant, and never overpowering. It has a
floral-woodsy scent, so if you’re looking for something fruity, this one isn’t
for you.
Mark Anthony Moroccan Oil Hair Spray
Another subscription box find, this hairspray is everything
you could possibly want. It smells delightful, and lets you still touch your
hair. I have a habit of running my fingers through my hair and with the wrong
hairspray it can get icky. This one is great. A quick spray holds everything
together but is still wonderfully touchable.
Extras:
Ken Burns presents Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies
This documentary aired on PBS a few nights ago. It’s six
hours long, broke into three parts. Ken Burns makes magnificent documentaries,
and this one is no exception. It tells the biography of cancer from the first
rudimentary treatments to the advancements of today. Parts of it are very sad.
Let’s just say that the early beginnings of treating childhood cancer were not
pleasant. But I think it’s worth the watch. It’s well made and I learned a lot,
even if some of it was tough to watch.
Sperry Topsider Shoes
Time for new spring shoes! I love my new Sperry Topsiders. I
love the gold accents on these and they’re perfect for a fun day walking
through the park in the new warmer weather. If you're interested, this pair is called the Angelfish, and the color is gold/linen. They're gorgeous.
Geocaching
I’ve recently gotten back into geocaching. I had done it a
little in college, but since moving to Montana, I’ve gotten really into it. Ben
and I went on a geocache mission a couple weekends ago and it was a great day.
We’re going again on Sunday. If you haven’t heard of geocaching, it’s like a
real life treasure hunt. You get coordinates to plug into your GPS and go to
the cache which is a hidden
container. Inside can be little trinkets. You take something out and put
something else in. It’s a good time if you haven’t ever been. I recommend
checking it out in your area. You can check it out at geocaching.com. My username is EverydayCait if you're interested in comparing caches.
Old Navy Pixie Pants
I love everything about these pants. They’re a little
cropped so they’re great for spring, and they come in fun colors and styles. I
think that they’re great. I own three pairs now, and maybe soon a fourth. I
might need to be stopped.
That's what I've been loving this month. What are your favorites this month? If you wrote a post link it below so I can see it!
