Real Techniques Eyes Enhanced Starter Set | Review
Again, I am last to try something. At long
last, I have picked up the Real Techniques Starter Set of eyeshadow brushes,
famously made by the YouTube channel Pixiwoo, which I have been watching for
literally years.
These five brushes -- Deluxe Crease Brush,
Base Shadow Brush, Brow Brush, Pixel Point Eyeliner Brush and Accent Brush –
are meant to give you flawless eye makeup with easy blending.
About
the Brushes
These brushes feel spendy. They have a
perfectly weighted aluminum handle that fits nicely in your hand, not too long,
not too short. They also have delightfully soft taklon synthetic bristles,
perfect for picking up pigment. They include a case that you can fit more of
your favorite brushes in, and will run right around the $12 mark (USD). I got mine
at Ulta, but they’re fairly easy to find at many retailers.
Review
I love the case on these. It’s this
innovative design with a toggle closure so that it stands up for easy use.
Awesome. It’s been the only case for my brushes that I have taken on recent
trips.
Deluxe Crease Brush
This is my favorite brush in the set. I have
always had problems blending my crease. Always. This dome-shaped brush is the
perfect size and contoured shape for blending out that crease shade, whether
it’s a transition color or something dark and dramatic. Do you have blending
issues? You won’t once you use this. It is quite big, if you have smaller eyes,
but it works fine for me.
Base Shadow Brush
I love this brush too. It’s a flat-but-fluffy
shadow brush that works excellently for both packing on color and blending out
harsh edges. I’m a big fan of this.
Brow Sculpting Brush
I am…on the fence about this one. I typically
use brush-through products, like Benefit’s Gimme Brow or Mac’s Brow Set. There’s
not really much use for a brush with that. I think t’s a nice brush. It’s soft
and gives you a great crisp line, but I’ve only just begun using free-hand brow
products, and I need way more practice so it doesn’t look so heavy-handed.
Pixel Point Eyeliner Brush
I love this brush too! It’s so very thin and
fine. It’s perfect for gel liner, or for really heavily applying a fine line of
eyeliner that you can then blend out with the next brush. This is a must-have
if you’re a gel liner girl.
Accent Brush
This is the brush have used the most out so
far. It’s the perfect size for smudging out eyeshadows and eyeliners on the
upper or lower lash. This was actually the brush that made me buy the set, so
no complaints from me!
Bottom Line
These are amazing brushes. I had been turned
off the brand by their imposter-not-as-good Beauty Blender, but I’m glad I gave
them another shot.
What are your favorite Real Techniques brushes? I want to expand the
collection!
