Creating Traditions
This is (hopefully) my last holiday season as a single lady! To be fair, I haven’t thought of myself as single for 3+ years now, but now that we’re making it official, we’re really solidifying our new family. With that, we’re creating new holiday traditions that fit for us really well. I thought that today we could talk about some of our holiday traditions and how we made them.
I think the big thing is that we celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah in our house. We light the candles in our menorah, and eat sweet treats made with honey. But we also put up our tree. We have homemade ornaments that need to go on the tree, as well as some odds and ends that we have picked up over the past years. Gifts from jobs or coworkers, or cute things from Target or local stores.
We also go to church on Christmas eve, which is something that Charles feels is important for him and I think it’s important to support your person.
Our only gifty tradition is that we’ve been sort-of staggering our gifts over a couple of weeks. It makes a whole month of celebration. We also set a pretty strict price limit. This year we didn’t want to spend much because of some big expenses coming up…like a wedding.
Anyway, we’re planning on many more traditions to come, but we wanted to hear from you! What are your holiday traditions?
