Happy You Year - Sephora Play January 2018

I was not super excited about my Sephora play this month. The theme didn't really seem to do much for me. As it arrived, I got much more excited because there are awesome products inside this month! 

This year, Sephora was tagging onto the New Year with Happy YOU Year. I don't know about you, but it feels like New Year's Eve was like four months ago instead of just a few weeks. Either way, I'm still holding firm on the idea of my resolutions!

As per usual, there are five items, plus a bonus sample. Each box also comes with a Play! Pass, which you can redeem for a one-on-one tutorial in-store, plus 50 bonus Sephora points. I no longer live within three hours of a Sephora, so that is kind of wasted on me.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in Kristen - $7

An opaque, high-pigment lip gloss in a desert-sand shade for shiny, lacquered lips. 

I am not a lip gloss fan, usually. I like the security of a bullet lipstick. It's traditional. It's safe. It's good. ABH has been making me rethink this. This lip gloss is a delightfully brown-pink color. It's certainly darker than I had thought that it would be, but I like it. I especially like to use it over my MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick.  It's not too sticky and lasts longer than most other lip glosses I've tried. Maybe it's time to resurrect lip gloss from the grave of high school.

Would purchase? Yes, maybe in another color. 

GlamGlow Supercleanse Clearing Cream-to-Foam Cleanser - $3.20

Ultra-creamy cleanser uses a blend of three charcoals to clear pores and remove excess oil and makeup. 

GlamGlow is very hit and miss for me. Unfortunately, this one seems to be a miss. I can't possibly justify the price when I don't think it makes a bit of difference. It's also very harsh. I don't think my skin is that sensitive but the three charcoals really seem to rub it raw. 

Would repurchase? No.

Make Up For Ever Artist Face Color in B302 - $5.41

A pressed powder blush in a soft shimmery peach for a hint of warm cheek color. 

I love MUFE. They make the best professional-quality base makeup. This blush is gorgeous. It does seem like it would be generally flattering on most skin types. It doesn't show up too much on my skin, but does provide a subtle warmth. I have been wearing this all week and have gotten several compliments on my skin.

Would repurchase: Yes!

Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream – $5.30

A hydrating and brightening under-eye cream that's easy to pop in your bag for pick-me-ups throughout the day.

I have used this in the past and am happy to sue it again. It makes my eyes feel less tired, if that makes sense. I love having the mini because I've just had it in my purse for when I need a midday pick-me-up. It feels cooling and tingling, and helps me feel refreshed. I wouldn't use it as my only eye cream, but it's nice to have for the in-between times. 

Would repurchase? Yes.

Boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel - $6.80

A gel peel that exfoliates gently using AHAs and removes impurities for bright, soft skin. 

My skin is very sensitive to AHAs, so this is one that I haven't been able to use too often. I've tried it out a couple of times have been pretty impressed. It is fairly harsh, but like all AHAs, the results are nearly instantaneous. 

Would repurchase? Probably not at the price, but it's a quality product.

Gloss Moderne Clean Luxury Masque

A deep-conditioning hair mask that repairs damaged stands and eliminates frizz for soft, healthy hair. 

Switching it up this month, I didn't get a perfume, I got a foil packet of hair mask. I haven't used a hair mask in a while, so I was excited to try this one out. It did make my hair look glossy and frizz free. I have been trying to grow my hair out a little and am switching out my haircare as a result. This seems wonderful, and I would use it more. 

Would repurchase? Yeah.

I'm still impressed with this box. The only thing that was a solid no for me was the GlamGlow scrub. Otherwise, all winners.
