Sephora Play! Date July 2017
After a tricky change of address, I finally received this month's Sephora Play! This month's theme was Beauty Staycation. It focused on items that work both on vacation and at home. I would say that the best thing about this box is the size of the samples. Unlike the previous boxes with samples for ants, this one has pretty sizeable jars and tubs. As per usual, there are five items, plus a perfume sample. Each box also comes with a Play! Pass, which you can redeem for a one-on-one tutorial in-store, plus 50 bonus Sephora points.
It Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing - $12
Innovative lengthening mascara gives lashes volume, reach, and lift with just one inky-black coat.
I am not particular about my mascara, except for one thing. It can't smudge. In good news, this delightfully stays put. I have zero complaints about this. Is it the best mascara I've ever used? No, but it's fine. I'll use it up, and then not repurchase.
Boscia Charcoal Pore Pudding Intensive Wash-Off Treatment - $11.40
Swirled black and white charcoal mask balances the skin's moisture, absorbs impurities, and minimzes the appearance of pores.
If you've followed my blog for a while, you know that I'm all about the life of face masks. I really like this one. It has a really strong smell that I don't care for, but it affects my skin in a really great way. My skin is softer, and my pores are visibly reduced. I think that the black and white swirl that you then blend together is really gimmicky, but you can't argue with results.
Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray - $3
Ultra-light leave-in conditioning spray delivers non-greasy moisture without weighing down hair.
After recently color-treating my hair, I have been rethinking my hair plan. I've been using more leave-in treatments. I've used Briogeo before, and I like it. Again, it's not my favorite, but I don't hate it. The scent on this is very strong as well. I do notice that my hair is smoother, silkier, and dries faster than without.
bareMINERALS GEN NUDE Matte Liquid Lipcolor in Swag – $9.37
Cream-to-matte liquid lipstick pairs a blushing mauve shade with a stays-all-day formula that is lightweight, yet full-coverage.
My favorite item in the box, I've been wearing this lipstick nonstop since the box arrived. It's a true mauve shade. It's not exciting, but it's flattering and easy to wear. It also stays on way longer than I thought. I am a fan, and I can see myself picking up several other shades.
Milk Makeup Cooling Water - $2.00
Salon-quality conditioning treatment made with omemga-rich oil soaks into damaged or dull hair to add shine and vibrancy.
I don't know what this is supposed to do...and I don't really think that anyone needs it. I'm completely offput by the marketing that Milk does about how they're too cool for people who wear a ton of makeup. I love makeup. I'm going to wear all the makeup I want. I'm also not going to pay $24 for a stick of water mixed with gelatin. I don't have time for that. I like that it does provide a nice cooling sensation...and it's been a million degrees outside. But I'm not going to ever think of using this, and definitely never buying it.
Atelier Cologne in Orange Sanguine
Inspired by the scent of a relaxed summer morning, the crisp blend of sweet blood orange and bitter orange peel is complemented by notes of geranium.
As I have said before, the perfume samples are so hit and miss because we all have different tastes in what scents we like. I really like the Atelier colognes because they're unisex, and they're usually natural scents. This is my favorite. It's what your hands smell like after you've just peeled a too-ripe orange. I loooove it.
All in all, this was a good box, in that I’m using everything. Some of the things might be a little bit extra...looking at you milk...but I can deal with that. You can’t complain about a $10 beauty box giving you that much value.
