Valentine's Day Outfit Inspo: Day to Night

Valentine’s Day is approaching in just a few weeks. On a side note, where is 2017 going? Anyway, Valentine’s Day lands on a Tuesday this year, which means that the game plan is changed from the usual weekend holiday. This year, I don’t have a whole lot of time to get ready for date night after work. I live a little bit of a commute away, so I’ll be going from the office to the restaurant immediately.

With my time constraints, I’ve picked out an outfit that will go from work to play easily, and is still appropriate for a more special date.

For Valentine’s Day, I’ll be wearing:

Lauren by Ralph Lauren Red Dress (here)

The dress is a little low cut, but it’s super flattering. As someone who carries the bulk of my weight in my midsection, the cut skims over all of my insecurities. It’s also super cute with a black bralette if the neckline is a little low for you.

To take it from day to night, I will be switching out my shoes. At work, I end up walking a lot, so I have on these black flats from Target (nothing special, available here). I like the way these look, but being on my feet all day makes even the most comfortable shoes pretty hard to wear. For evening, I’ll change into my Aldo color block heels. These are so uncomfortable, but I love the way that they look and I always get compliments on them.

To help keep my feet slightly more comfortable, I do have a little secret weapon: insoles. I figured that insoles were only for little old ladies, but they’ve really helped me. It was like the day that I discovered Spanx. Mind blown. There are lots available, but I think that the ones from SolePatches are the best. Full disclosure: they did send these to me to try, but they are 100% the best. I've tried quite a few insoles, from many many brands (including Dr. Scholls). These have them beat. The reason why is because they provide two options. You can permanently stick the pads to one pair of shoes, and they’ll be in there forever, or you can use the medical-grade adhesive to your feet, making it easy to switch shoes. They come in a pack of six pairs, and the shoes that are super uncomfortable all the time get a dedicated set of insoles. But for days with a quick shoe change, I attach the patches straight to the bottom of my foot (and they stay on all day. I haven’t tested them past 16 hours...but I feel like that’s enough) and swap shoes as many times as I want. You can get them here, or from loads of retailers.

That’s my one tip for working girls on the go! I hope you like my outfit, and I’d love it if you’d share your Valentine’s outfits with me!
