February Glymm Box: UPDATE
This morning I got up, bright and excited to use my new beauty products that I spoke about yesterday in my Glymm box. I can’t really recommend a product that I don’t like, so I thought I’d give them all a run through before passing judgement.
The Burt’s Bees lip balm is phenomenal. I’ve been wearing it all day, and my lips feel great. Smooth, moisturized, and a pretty red color. A definite buy.
The Sula Natural Eyeshadow is a little tricky for me. Despite swatching out pretty lightly, it is a definite lime green color on the eyes. I love it. It’s very nice. It also wears quite some time. I’m up to 7 hours, without primer, with no creasing or fading. Even though it wasn’t what I expected, it is appearing to be worth the money to have in my collection.
I tried out the GlamGlow mud mask this morning. It was…an experience. I spread it on to my face, and left it the recommended 15 minutes. It claims to tingle, tighten, and lighten. The tingling, I suppose, was really the pain of your skin be pulled. It did tighten, so much so that I couldn’t move my face at all. It wasn’t pleasant. I’ve used drying masks before, but this one really pulled. As for lightening, I suppose that’s a long term effect because I haven’t seen it yet. On the plus side, it did leave my skin smooth and flake-free. I don’t think I’ll be purchasing this.
The Mai Couture Bronzing/Blotting sheet was another toughie. It looked really dark, so I decided to use it for contouring. With a lack of instructions, I rubbed it onto the parts of my face I usually use bronzer on. It most definitely did some bronzing. It came off the sheet very dark, and very streaky. It looked like I’d smeared dirt all over my face. It took a few minutes of intense blending to make it look more natural, and less like I was just dirty. The concept is interesting, but it says that the point is that you won’t need to bring your brushes with you. I think that this is false. I had to blend it a good deal, so I definitely would need to bring my brushes.
All in all, the products aren’t bad. The eyeshadow and balm are clear winners. Sula, although a new brand (at least to me) is definitely convincing me to buy their products. Burt's Bees and I already have a long-standing relationship. But with the bronzer and the mud mask, I’ll be using up my sample, and then probably never think of them again.
I hope you’re all enjoying your Monday. As always, I’d love to hear from you :)
